Ten reasons to make a will

In order to ensure that your assets pass to the people you wish to benefit, you need to make a will. Many people are under the impression that assets automatically pass to a spouse, but this is not necessarily the case.

Business clients make Wills through Morgan Cole for a number of reasons:-

1.    to save 40% tax on their estates;

2.    to protect their business;

3.    to provide for a financially dependent parent, an unmarried partner or stepchildren;

4.    to nominate a guardian for minor children;

5.    to protect their estate against the possible effects of a surviving spouse remarrying;

6.    to make an unequal division of the estate;

7.    to benefit non-family, e.g. godchildren, friends, charities;

8.    to protect children from the risks associated with inheriting large amounts of capital too soon;

9.    because of recent news items, operations, holidays and bereavement and finally

10.  because statistics show that those who make Wills live longer than those who don’t!

Making a Will with a solicitor need not be complicated or expensive.
