Trainees - the selection process
The selection process
We are committed to eliminating discrimination and promoting equality and diversity in our own policies, practices and procedures and in those areas in which we have influence. This applies to the Firm’s professional dealings with staff and partners, other solicitors, barristers, clients and third parties such as job applicants. The Firm intends to treat everyone equally and with the same attention, courtesy and respect according to each of the following protected characteristics in line with the Equality Act 2010; age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, race, sex, pregnancy and maternity, religion and belief or sexual orientation.
To this end the Firm welcomes applicants from any walk of life or background.
Applications for training contracts with us are via our online application form – https://www.apply4law.com/morgancole/default.aspx.
The Firm will consider any reasonable adjustments needed to ensure that you can participate in the selection process fully & fairly. For example, should you require this application form in another format (e.g. Braille, large print or floppy disc), please contact our HR Department : recruitment@morgan-cole.com .
All requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis and the information given will not be used in selection decisions.
Within two weeks of the application form closing we invite shortlisted applicants to attend the Trainee Assessment Centre (TAC) and advise unsuccessful applicants thereafter. Requests for reasonable adjustments, from shortlisted applicants, can be made at this point too.
We hold the Assessment Centre days at our
In recent years we have run two assessment days across the week seeing 20 candidates on each day. The days are designed to ensure that candidates are assessed consistently regardless of which day they attend.
You can expect exercises to test your skills as a trainee solicitor, group games to assess the core competencies we expect from all our employees, a panel interview and finally a chance to grill our existing Trainees in an informal Q&A session.
As the assessment incorporates group exercises, unfortunately we cannot run assessments outside of the confirmed dates.
Feedback is only given to those candidates who attended the Assessment Centre, therefore feedback cannot be given to candidates on why their application was not successful for Assessment Centre selection. Feedback to Assessment Centre candidates will only be made on request and after we have completed the full Graduate recruitment programme, i.e. once written offers have been made and accepted.
