Our 'Charities of the year'
We support three charities, one in each of the regions in which we are based.
Wales: Ty Hafan
Tŷ Hafan offers comfort, care and support for life-limited children and young people and is dedicated to improving the quality of life for the whole family. This comfort and support extends out of the hospice and reaches right into the heart of the family home, and is completely free of charge to the families in Wales who need it.
Tŷ Hafan was established in 1999 and since then has helped over 400 families, who live the dreadful reality that their children with life-limiting conditions may not reach the age of 19. www.tyhafan.org
Thames Valley: Vale House
Vale House is a nursing home providing specialist care for the people suffering from severe dementia until the end of their lives. One of the first of its kind, it has amassed considerable experience in the field, and is now recognised both nationally and internationally as a benchmark for good practice. www.valehouse.org.uk
Bristol: Make-A-Wish Foundation®
Make-A-Wish grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses. At any given time, over 20,000 children in the UK are living with life-threatening conditions. In 2010, around 1,000 children will turn to us to have their special wish granted. www.make-a-wish.org.uk
