High climbing lawyers raise £6,000 for Tenovus

Two teams of high-climbing Cardiff and Swansea lawyers Three Peaks 2009
plus a Welsh Assembly civil servant has raised more than £6,000 for cancer charity Tenovus after a challenging weekend climb.

The two Morgan Cole teams successfully completed the Three Peaks Challenge, a gruelling 24 hour race to ascend the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales.

The combined 26 mile walk and 500 mile drive to conquer the snow of Ben Nevis on Saturday morning, the darkness of Scafell Pike in the early hours of Sunday and then Snowdon had to be completed within 24 hours to be judged a success.

Funds raised by the climbers will help Tenovus to continue to deliver their mobile cancer support unit, which enables communities across Wales to access chemotherapy and support close to their homes.

Morgan Cole Partner Simon McCann said, "It was a huge effort by everyone, particularly those who put in the hard graft organising it, and our volunteer drivers. We are also very grateful for the support of our friends and clients, who donated so much to Tenovus, which is the firm’s selected charity of 2009."

He added "Some of our team nearly cracked when they got to the top of Snowdon and were asked by the British Military organisers if they’d like some hot chocolate. When they said yes, the organisers started singing ‘I believe in Miracles’ !"
