5-a-side boost for Tenovus

Morgan Cole has raised almost £1,000 for cancer charity Tenovus after many of Cardiff’s best known businesses went head-to-head in a soccer challenge.

The 5-a-side football event was staged at the Gol Centre in Leckwith, and was won by accountancy firm Grant Thornton, based in Penhill Road, Pontcanna, which beat HSBC in a penalty shoot-out.

Other teams taking part included BPU Chartered Accountants, Davis Langdon, Target Group, EC Harris, Dunraven, Corderoy, Welsh Power and Broomfield Alexander.

Organiser Richard Jones, a solicitor with Morgan Cole, said each team made a donation towards Morgan Cole’s Three Peaks challenge by way of an entry fee, while extra cash was raised by a raffle on the night.

The tournament is one of a number of fundraising activities which are taking place to help raise funds towards Morgan Cole’s participation in the Tenovus Three Peaks challenge which takes place on June 13-14.

The Three Peaks challenge consists of scaling Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and finally Snowdon in 24 hours or less.

Richard said, "It was a great night, with a surprisingly high standard of play on display. It was also a great opportunity to get many of Cardiff’s most important employers together for a bit of fun, with a serious fundraising intention also."
